Quite often, your hands are busy. With Voice Talk allows you can give voice commands, including voice dial, text message, navigation, music, Web browsing and search.

When docked into the car dock, the Galaxy S II automatically defaults into Voice Talk mode.

Voice Talk at the Ready: When a green light appears in the Voice Talk app, the program is ready to receive a command through either the Tap & Speak button or by saying “Hi, Galaxy.” Please note that leaving Voice Talk in this ready-to-listen state for an extended period can drain the phone’s battery.

Voice Talk Bluetooth Launching: Turn on the Launch on Bluetooth option in the Voice Talk settings menu to automatically launch the Voice Talk app when a Bluetooth headset is active.

9. Have more fun with photos.

Photo Editor gives you the ability to apply fun effects to your photos such as motion blur, warp and composite images. With the editing tools, you can rotate, crop, flip, and adjust contrast, sharpness and saturation.

To select an area of a photo to edit, touch the selection tool and choose New Selection. Do not try to outline the area, instead drag your finger across it like a paintbrush. Fine-tune your selections with the Add To and Remove From options in the Selection menu.

10. Make it even quicker with shortcuts.

Direct Dialing & Messaging: If there are certain contacts that you call or message frequently, you can add those contacts as a direct dial or direct message shortcut on a Home screen. Then, with one touch and without opening the dialer or composer, you can call or message your contact. To add a direct dial or message contact, from the Home screen, touch Menu > Add > Shortcuts > Browser

Bookmarks: Any website that’s been bookmarked in the browser can also be added to the Home screen as a one-touch shortcut. To add a shortcut to a favorite website, from the Home screen, touch Menu key > Add > Shortcuts > Bookmark. Touch the thumbnail of the website to select it.

11. What is a Widget?

Wiki definition:“An application, or a component of an interface, that enables a user to perform a function or access a service.”

Smart Phone definition: “Those icons on your screen that let you get to stuff faster.”

Resizing Widgets:

You can resize most widgets on your home screen by pressing the widget for a few seconds and then releasing it. You will see yellow lines that show the available sizes for the widget. Grab the lower right corner of the widget to resize it to fit one of the yellow outlines, or briefly touch the widget again to cancel the resize.

12. Notify me- a quick snapshot of what is going on with your sidekick.

The Notification Panel provides information about missed calls, new messages and voice mails, download progress and more. The panel also offers quick access to on/off switches for Wi-Fi® Bluetooth, GPS, Sound and 4G. To open the panel, touch the top of the screen and sweep down.

14. Clipboard saves your selection.

Save time with copy and pasting

When you copy text or an image from a message, the gallery or the browser, the item is stored on the Clipboard and can be pasted into any kind of composer, including email, memos and messaging. To open the clipboard while in a composer, double-tap the text box, touch the blue arrow and select Clipboard. Touch a Clipboard item to paste it into the composer.

15. Move it to control it.

Motion settings enhance convenience.

The Epic 4G Touch can use four user motions—turn over, tilt, panning and double tap—to control certain functions of the phone. To activate these features and learn more about them, touch Applications > Settings > Motion Settings.

Turning the phone over mutes incoming calls and sounds. Tilting, while holding two fingers on the screen, reduces or enlarges screen image in the Gallery or Browser. Panning, while pressing on the icon, moves widget and shortcut icons from page to page in the Home and Applications screens. Double tap prepares the phone for voice commands, if the Voice Talk application is open.

Customizing Camera Shortcuts: The camera toolbar can be customized with shortcuts chosen by you. To add specific shortcuts, touch Camera > Settings > Edit Shortcuts. Drag the preferred shortcuts to the toolbar.

Switching Between the Two Cameras: During photo sessions or video recordings, you may want to switch between the rear-facing and front-facing cameras. While in the camera application, touch the Switch icon to toggle between the two cameras. In the Camcorder application, touch Recording Mode > Self-Recording.

19. Do you HDMI?

Read this:

To share video content with an HDTV over an HDMI cable, the optional HDTV Smart Adapter is required. This adapter converts the Epic 4G Touch’s data port into an HDMI-out port. You must also connect the phone to a power source during sharing. Just connect the phone’s own charging cable to the side-mounted power port on the adapter.

This isn’t your first iPhone, but you just upgraded to the 4 or the 4s. What do you need to know and what do you expect? Below are the top 10 things a new iPhone 4 user needs to know.

1. Update all your applications

Applications are constantly getting updated. If you have lot installed in your previous iPhone 3G or 3GS, chances are they will need to be updated again so that they can take advantages of the new iOS4 features and iPhone 4 capabilities. So before you start trying out your existing applications on iPhone 4, take a moment to check if they need to be updated.

2. Where’s Facetime?

This is probably one of the first thing you’d like to explore on new iPhone 4, but where’s the Facetime app? Facetime is actually not an application, in fact, it’s an option available (for now) only when you make a call via WiFi to another iPhone 4 user.

Facetime is turned off by default. To turn it on, go to Settings > Phone and turn Facetime on. Learn more about Facetime.

3. You’ll need a new wallpaper

With retina display, everything on iPhone 4 looks amazingly vibrant and high quality. The screen supports up to 960×640 pixels at 326ppi, approximately 4 times higher than the resolution in a iPhone 3Gs. In another words, it makes your current wallpaper looks weak and you’ll need to look for a higher resolution wallpapers

4. Try iMovie for iPhone 4

iMovie for iPhone4 is a light version of iMovie for Mac and it’s awesome. It allows you to edit and share your recorded videos on the fly. And did we mention all videos recording with iPhone 4 are in high definition (HD)? Cost $4.99.

5. Tap to Focus Object – Video

Even the smartest gadget can use a some human touch. While video recording, you can tap on different objects on the screen to have iPhone focus on them. This seems to work really well, watch the video demonstration of it.

6. View widescreen while Recording

If you swap from camera mode to video mode, you’ll notice that the objects are actually getting closer. That is because video recording is done in wide screen mode. To display in wide screen while recording – double tab the screen.

7. Search Web, Wikipedia on the fly

By swiping right on the home screen, you’ll activate Spotlight. Type in something and scroll all the way to the bottom and you’ll noticed two additional search options have been added, respectively the “Search web” and “Search wikipedia”. Both search uses Safari browser.

9. The iPhone 4 “Death Grip”

This is the question most people are most concerned about. To be fair, yes signal bars do drop when gripped – they call it the Death Grip.
However, signal drop only happens in areas where receptions are weak, so it very much depends a lot on your service provider. The problem is mild, don’t get too worried about it. The best way to ensure that it does not happen is to stop by a Sprint Store by T-Cellular location and pick up a protective case to ensure that you don’t grip the phone in the wrong place.

10. Yellow Splotches on the screen

Some users are reporting that they have been noticing yellow patches on the iPhone 4 screen. According to macintouch, this is just a small temporarily problem as these yellow splotches are nothing but some bonding agents for the glass that will evaporate as the device is exposed to the air. You can relax now.

Here are some tips that might be useful to a new iPhone user. Whether you bought a 4 or opted for the upgraded 4s, this will get you on the right track.

1. It makes calls, too?

Using the phone app.

Back in the day, mobile phones were all talk, although now we use phones for so many other things we almost forget about this feature. To make a call, tap the Phone app on your home screen. (By default it will be in the bottom-left corner.) Options will appear. From the black bar at the bottom, tap Contacts to choose an address book contact to call. If you haven’t entered any contacts, they will not appear. If you want to add one, tap the + sign in the top right corner and you’ll be able to fill out a form with new information. Tap “Done” when you’re finished to save the info.
Alternatively, tap the Keypad option in the black bar at the bottom to dial a number manually and press the “call” button to initiate that call.
To check your voice mail, tap the “voicemail” button at the right of bottom black bar. If you have any new voice mails, you’ll see them listed. Just tap them to start playing.

2. Get Connected With Facetime

Video-conferencing

Making a video call with Facetime super easy, as long as you are calling another iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. Just use your phone app to call another iPhone like normal. When you do, you’ll see a little Facetime icon in the middle of the bottom row. Tap that and you’ll see your face pop up on screen. Now all you have to do is wait for the other person to accept your call and you’ll be video chatting in no time.
Note: Facetime calls only work you’re on a Wi-Fi connection and if both devices have cameras. More about Facetime.

3. Siri, Your Personal Voice Assistant (iPhone 4s only)

Siri is so easy to use, you almost don’t need instructions. Activate Siri by pressing and holding the home button on your iPhone. The Siri bar will appear at the bottom of your iPhone and you’ll be able to speak to it. Give Siri whatever command you want, using your natural speech. You can say things like “Make an appointment for dinner with Dad on Tuesday at 7:00 PM” or “How do I get to the closest sushi place from my current location?” Siri will then provide you with an answer or ask you to clarify if you were misunderstood. That’s all there is to it. But Siri is not perfect. Read this post on Macworld for some Siri Tips.

4. Get Connected

Pair a Bluetooth device with your iPhone

If you want to use a wireless Bluetooth headset, keyboard, or any other compatible device, there’s a simple process called pairing you need to go through in order for your iPhone to recognize it. To get started, open the Settings app on your iPhone’s home screen (it looks like a metal gear). Tap the General tab and then tap the Bluetooth tab. If the Bluetooth toggle switch is currently in the OFF position, tap it to set it to ON. Once Bluetooth is on, you’ll see a list of devices you can pair with your iPhone. At this point, the list may be empty. If you do not see the device you want, you probably need to put it in to discoverable mode. You’ll need to check your device’s instructions on how to do this, but generally it involves holding down the power button until a light starts blinking. Once your device is discoverable it should show up in the Bluetooth list on your iPhone. Tap it and follow the on screen instructions until the device has been paired. In many cases, you’ll just have to wait. In some cases, you’ll need to enter a code on the device’s keypad or keyboard. Once that’s finished, your Bluetooth device will be paired with your iPhone and you can start using it right away.

5. Tunes and Tones

Change the ring tone or other notifications.

The iPhone comes with lots of pre-downloaded ring tones, plus you can select a custom ringtone purchased from the iTunes store. Open the Settings app on your iPhone’s home screen (it looks like a metal gear). Tap the Sounds tab, then the Ringtone section. There you’ll see a list of ringtones that you can select. Tap any to hear it and choose it as your ringtone. When you’re done, just press the home button to return to the home screen. Alternatively, you can use these same instructions to change the sound you hear when you receive a text message, voicemail, and more. In the Sound settings, right below Ringtone, are a bunch of other options: Text Tone, New Voicemail, New Mail, Sent Mail, Tweet, Calendar Alerts, and Reminder Alerts. Tap any of these to select the tone you want to play when that specific event occurs.

6. Redecorate!

Change the wallpaper on your phone.

It’s easy to change your wallpaper to a custom image. Open the Settings app on your iPhone’s home screen (it looks like a metal gear). Tap the Wallpaper tab and then tap the image of your lock screen and home screen. This will allow you to select a wallaper from the built-in iPhone options or any photos on your device. Go ahead and select what you want, then pinch, zoom, and/or drag to move the image into the position you want for your wallpaper. When you’re finished, tap the Set button. You’ll now be asked if you want to set this wallpaper for your Lock Screen, Home Screen, or both. Your Lock Screen is the screen you see when you turn on your iPhone and it asks you to swipe to unlock. Your Home Screen is the screen with all your icons on it. You can set the image however you like, but if you want to set two different images—one for the Home Screen and one for the Lock Screen—you’ll need to go through this for each screen.

7. Get the mail.

Add an Email Account.

Adding an email account can vary a lot depending on the service you use. Open the Settings app on your iPhone’s home screen (it looks like a metal gear). From there, tap the Mail, Contacts, Calendars tab. This will display a list of email accounts that already exist on your phone. If you don’t have any, all you’ll see up top is an Add Account button. Either way, tap on that. From here you’ll want to choose the type of account you want to add. If you have Gmail, pick Gmail. If you have iCloud, pick iCloud. If you don’t see your service provider on this list, tap Other. You will need to enter your user name (usually your email address or the part of your email before the “@” sign) and password. You might need to enter your incoming and outgoing mail servers. These are usually mail.yourdomain.com. If that does not work, contact your email-hosting provider for the info.

8. Set a iPassword

Set a password to unlock your iPhone.

You can either set an alphanumeric password or a simple passcode for your iPhone. To do either, open the Settings app on your home screen (it looks like metal gear). Tap on the General tab, then the Passcode Lock tab. Tap “Turn Passcode On” to enter a four-digit numeric passcode. If you’d prefer a complex password, press the toggle switch next to Simple Passcode to put it in the OFF position. Now when you tap the Turn Passcode On button you’ll be able to set a password that’s far more complex. When you’re done, you’ll be required to entire a passcode/word next time you try to unlock your iPhone.

9. Clean House

Organize your apps in folders.

If you download a lot of apps, your iPhone can get a little bit messy. This is easy to fix by organizing your apps in folders. Just tap and hold down any app on your home screen. When all the apps start to jiggle, tap and drag an app of your choice on top of another app. When you let go, both of these apps will be added to a new folder. Now you can name it or use the name your iPhone chooses for you. You can now drag more apps into this folder. When you’re done, just press the home button to stop the jiggling.

10. Stay Juiced Up
